Mrs. Smith and Ms. Romero

Back to school

April 17, 2011

Welcome to our class website. We are so excited about this coming school year! There is so much to do and learn. On this website you will find all sorts of information such as Student of the Week announcement, teacher contact info, homework for the week, upcoming events, and much more. You will always be prepared for school when you visit this site.

SAT - We will be taking the second SAT exam during the beginning of May. I will inform you of the exact date once I have it. Just like the FCAT, students should come to school well rested, have a healthy breakfast, and arrive on time.

FCAT Reading and Math - WHEW! We survived the FCAT. Students did a great job. I have no doubts they did their very best and it will show in their test scores.

FCAT Explorer - Every student has received a log-in and password for FCAT Explorer. Students should be accessing this website as often as possible. Weekends are a great time to visit your local library to take advantage of their computers to do this if you don't have a computer at home. FCAT Explorer is a fun, interactive website geared to help students improve their FCAT Reading, Math, and Science scores. There is only a Reading component for 4th grade on FCAT Explorer, but you can access the 5th grade math to challenge your child's knowledge of math concepts.

Friday Uniform - Students must wear their official school uniform on Friday. That includes tie and dress shoes. Some students are still not adhering to school rules and wearing their weekday clothes on Friday. Parents will be called to bring in their child's Friday uniform if they are not wearing it. Also, we have a field trip this Friday. All students must be in their Friday uniform or they will not be allowed to go on the field trip.

Student Supplies - By now every student should have their own supplies. They must have a ruler, crayons, colored pencils, scissors, markers, pencils, folders for each subject, and notebooks for each subject. Many students still do not have these basic supplies. Please check to see that your child has what he or she needs for school.

Classroom Supplies - I am in need of tissues, pencils, and dry erase markers for the board (thin black and/or thick colored low odor), notebook paper, and pencil cap erasers. Check out the Wish List page for additional items

Remember, you can always contact us via e-mail or by calling the school (954-721-8902) and leaving a message.

Thank you for visiting and have a great day!

 Sincerely,

Mrs. Smith and Ms. Romero
